Rurrenabaque Jungle Tour?

For those who intend to take a little tour in the heart of the Amazon, know that Rurrenabaque is full of agencies of all kinds that offer you two tour options:

The pampas or the jungle.

The pampa is made for seeing pink dolphins, caimans and monkeys, all fed by the guides to the delight of pseudo-adventurers. The excursion in the jungle is a bit the same thing, you are accommodated in cabins which sometimes have nothing to envy to certain hostals that we have been able to rent in Bolivia, judging by the photos that the agencies show you show.

For true backpackers who aren’t afraid to get a little dirty and rough it out.

Know that you can cross the rio via the taxi boat, once on the other side, you go to the Casa de Alfonso.

For a very honest price, you will be entitled to a good 4-hour hike to reach a rio in the heart of the jungle. You establish a wild camp, campfire tent etc.

The next day is discovery of the jungle and all the species that can be found there. They are wild so it is certain that you will see less of them than on the tourist canoes…

We were thinking of taking a trip to the Bolivian Amazon for the holidays if that happens. And to see for the weather…

In any case, your adventure is super interesting. Is it easy to get to Casa de Alfonso? A reservation is necessary?

You had to bring back your shopping from la paz I imagine?

In short, we really want a lot more info because, as you say, it looks very enriching and different from what the agencies offer…

No, it is very easy to find it. The bus that takes you to Rurrenabaque arrives in the main town, you have to take the “ferry” to go to the other side and there everyone knows it. It also offers accommodation at 10 bolivianos per night (unheard of)… very very basic but it can get you in shape for the jungle :wink:No need for reservations, most people go through tour agencies… suddenly it is quite available.

For the races, you do them on the day of departure in the Rurrenabaque market with him or his son (who is also a guide). So be careful when we talk about shopping, it’s a little rice, pasta and a few onions… just to have something to accompany the fish you’re going to catch!

Fishing by hand… If you know a little about fishing, I advise you to come with some gear :wink:because he fishes with shark hooks (they are so big) and that limits the catch a bit.

On the 3rd day, fishing for catfish and piranhas!!! Which will accompany your evening dish.

Towards an authentic and wild Cambodia

Want to get away from the crowd of visitors after your discovery of the temples of Angkor Wat? Trekking in the mountainous regions of Ratanakiri or Mondolkiri should allow you to find some peace in the middle of jungles and waterfalls. But beware, these regions are increasingly appreciated by tourists from all walks of life.

Our favorite tropical trek in Cambodia: Mondulkiri

> Level : Medium, Cambodia remains a lowland country and the average altitude of its mountainous regions is 800 meters. The trek is without major difficulty provided you are in good shape and walk regularly.

> Average duration : from a few hours to a few days depending on your desires

> The essentials of this trek: The incredible waterfalls that punctuate the landscape, and in which it is sometimes possible to swim. The mountain ethnic groups who welcome and guide the trekkers.
